DIN 1.2714 is a hardened and air quenched die steel with good full hardened properties and toughness.
The high Nickel content imparts the toughness as well as good through-hardening (hardenability) in large section thicknesses.The steel also exhibits good resistance to thermal shock and thermal fatigue cracking, and relatively small dimensional changes during hardening.
